Artificial grass for schools is an excellent option – first off maintenance is incredibly easy – the only thing we recommend is to rake away leaves and debris. No muddy mess will be created either, which make it a fantastic choice for Primary Schools and nurseries alike.
Taller pile heights of artificial grass such as our Lush Lawn 35 make for a softer lawn, which is ideal for rough tumble and play and creates another layer of sensory stimulation for the children. The artificial grass won’t graze children’s skin, and for added peace of mind, you can even install shock pads underneath, providing children with cushioning in case of any slips or falls.
1. Seating / Chill out areas
For schools with older children, or with lots of space to play, a great idea is to create chill out areas with artificial grass. You could either do this as a whole section of artificial grass, or could create a circle of artificial grass around a wendy house.
2. Underneath / around playground equipment
Whether your school playground equipment is a trim trail or a climbing frame, artificial grass makes for an excellent safety surface. We’ve developed a shock pad that can go underneath artificial grass at various thicknesses, covering a range of fall heights from 0.7m to 3.0m.
3. Artificial grass and wet pour
If you’re wanting all the benefits of artificial grass, but also want to incorporate other patterns and designs, we are more than happy to do both! The best option would be to go for a combination of wet pour and artificial grass because you can create a much wider range of designs.
By having an inviting environment with colour, shapes and different textures, schools and nurseries can help develop the children’s minds and stimulate their imagination.
4. Create a grass mound play area at your school
For an idea that’s a bit ‘out there’; you could install a play mound, covered in artificial grass, such as in this great example.
5. Road themed play area
Artificial Grass for schools sometimes has the requirement for one smooth surface that has designs incorporated into it. For example, one idea we see a lot is to have a road or car-themed play area, which is easily created using a velour grass ‘carpet’ that is child-friendly.
6. Daily mile track
There are a wide range of options out there for a daily mile running track, however in our opinion, the best option is to go for a sports-specific artificial grass. Not only would this mean your daily mile track doesn’t need maintenance, but by choosing a more astro-turf-like artificial grass, the surface would be ideal for running on.
